Workshops for schools

Kitchen Stars has worked with several local schools in Croydon, including Gilbert Scott Primary School, Castle Hill Primary School and Applegarth Infant School.

Healthy Lunchbox Workshop

This workshop helps children to understand about healthy eating and how to make healthy food choices. We will discuss the different food groups and then tell the children how these can be incorporated into a 'Healthy Lunchbox'. This also introduces them to the importance of having five fruit and vegetable portions a day.

Then it is time for a hands-on activity. This is when we show the children how to make a quick, tasty and nutritious snack.

To finish the session we will ask the children to create their own 'Healthy Lunchbox'. They can do this by either drawing a picture or creating a recipe.

Each child will be given a ' Healthy Lunchbox Menu' which they can take home to use. We will provide all ingredients and utensils for the children to use.

Crunchy Vegetable Workshop

In this workshop we will start with a guessing game. The children will be introduced to a variety of fruits and vegetables and we will ask them to identity each one. We will also highlight the importance of eating five fruit and vegetable portions a day.

The children will then get an opportunity to learn some basic preparation skills such as peeling, chopping and grating, and how to make a crunchy cous cous salad, using a variety of ingredients.

Each child will be given a 'Recipe and Fact Sheet' which they can take home. We will provide all ingredients and utensils for the children to use.

We will also provide a Food Worksheet in PDF format, which the school can distribute freely to all its pupils.

  • The above workshops will last for 45 minutes and cost £135. Book four workshops (1 full school day for £485).
  • We can tailor workshops to your needs. Price per workshop will then depend on its length and number of participants.
